Carl Leo Burger, 92, of South Dansville died Thursday (July 13, 1989) in the Hornell Nursing Home where he had resided for the past five and a half years.
Born May 26, 1897, in South Dansville, a son of Charles and Etta Curry Burger, he was married Mar. 25, 1922, in Rochester to the former Adelia Bentley who died in 1980. A farmer in his earlier years, he retired from Foster Wheeler Corp. in 1962 after 32 years of service in the Dansville area.
Mr. Burger owned and operated a lawn mower repair service at his home until 1980. He was a charter member and past assistant chief of the South Dansville Fire Department and a 70-year member and past master of Dansville Lodge 478, F.&A.M. in South Dansville. He was a member of the Foster Wheeler 25-Year Club and the company retiree organization.
Surviving are two sons, Wilbur of South Dansville and Lyle of Dansville; two daughters, Corinne Glover and Doris Smalt, both of Dansville; a sister, Ethel Pfaff of South Dansville; 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
A service was conducted Sunday afternoon in the Chamberlin Funeral Home of Dansville with the Rev. G. Calvin Sheasley officiating. Burial was in Forest Lawn Cemetery, South Dansville.
