On 7/23/1861 he was commissioned into Field & Staff 20th Indiana Infantry.
He Resigned on 1/9/1862.

On 4/21/1862 he was commissioned into Field & Staff 14th Indiana Infantry.
He Resigned on 12/28/1862.

Anson Hurd is famous for his picture with wounded soldiers at the battle of Antietam, Maryland.
