Amanda Mae Durbin, b. Oct 7, 1879 in Old Landing, Estill CO, KY. was the 3rd child and 2nd daughter of Joseph Edward and Mary "May" Catherine Reynolds. Amanda either left or was sent to NE in 1899 as a mail order bride for Amos Dillin, bringing along her first born child, Leslie "Jack" Durbin b. 1898, from an un-known father. Amos Dillin adopted Leslie Durbin, and "Jack" was henceforth known as a Dillin. Amos Dillin was 38 years older than Amanda, but between them they had 3 more children- Leora M., b. 1900, Almira A., b. 1901, and Joseph E., b 1903. Amos and Amanda were divorce in May, 1914 after Amos fired a shotgun at a man walking home from church with Amanda one Sunday morning. The shotgun blast hit Amanda in the back and arm, causing her to lose her right arm. In Nov, 1914, Amanda married the man whom Amos had aimed for, Charles Simpson. Charles and Amanda had 3 children, George R., Eugene L., and Edna M.
