She was first married James D. Ritchie. Later she married Henry Iverson Chambers.

Mrs. Martha E Ritchie Chambers has a CSA pension application on line in the GA Archives virtual vault under Early Count. She said she resided in Hilton, Early County. She gives proof of marriage to Henry I Chambers in Early County on 2 Oct 1866. She says he enlisted in May 1862 in Colquitt, Ga and served with Company E of the 55th GA regiment. He was captured with his whole unit in Cumberland Gap, TN in Sept 1863 and taken to Federal prison at Camp Douglas, Ill where he remained until 1865 when the war was over. She says he died in Dec. 1885 in Early County. Proof of her own death on Jan 11, 1925 is also included.
