Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Fern Maurine Jones Rothe passed away peacefully after a lengthy decline in health due to diabetes, surrounded by family and loved ones on 25 January, 2003.

She was born at her grandmother's home in Midway,

Utah to Donald and Lillie Sulser Jones on May 22, 1915. She graduated from Wasatch High School and L.D.S. Seminary. Fern played clarinet and loved marching in the band, including a special trip to a bowl game in California. She married Kurt P. Rothe in Heber City, Utah on May 29, 1939. She was sealed to her sweetheart for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on 31 May, 1962.

Fern was a blessing to her family, and all who knew her. Home, family, and church were always her focus. She was a great cook, lovely seamstress, and loved flowers, especially her African violets and lilies. Her girls always had lovely dresses and coats for every occasion all their growing up years. She loved to share, and always wanted to give, or do something for all she knew. She was a very compassionate nurse and loved being an LPN at the Wasatch County Hospital. Taking care of the babies was her favorite job. She truly loved service.

Fern was always a faithful and active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. After the Second World War many times she would make a couple dozen pair of pajamas and nightgowns, also always working a quilt for her church. She served ten years in the Relief Society presidency and several years in the Primary. She had an abiding testimony of the gospel, and was an avid reader of her scriptures. Faithful described her in all she did until the end. She kept going with a sweet spirit and great sense of humor until "all was well". What great blessings she brought to our lives, many situations, and our homes.

The loves of her life were her children Collene R. Bartlett (Howard), Lehi; Annette R. Wright (Jack), Roy; Paul K. Rothe (Tina), Taylorsville; 11 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, sister Laura Davis, Murray; a special nephew who lived with the family Wolfgang Rothe, Tuerkheim, Bavaria, Germany, one aunt Ina Lewis, Midway. She was preceded in death by her parents, three baby brothers, and her dear sweetheart and husband Kurt.

We shall feel her influence daily. We shall miss her caring love, and goodness in our lives. She was God's gift to us. She was truly an "elect woman".
