Mary Jane Donoughe was born on January 19, 1845, in Cambria County, Pennsylvania. Daughter of Andrew Donoughe and Catharine Elizabeth Mardis, she was the sister of James A., Margaret, and Ann Elizabeth, and the half-sister of Monica Abigail Wills (Sister M. Callistus, IHM), Adelaide Rosanne Wills, Frances Wilhelmina Wills, Andrew Wills and Emma Catherine Wills. Mary Jane married Francis Albert Sutton in 1865, and they were the parents of Andrew, Albert, Anne Marie, and Thomas Herbert. She died on November 24, 1912 at home in Altona, and was buried in Calvary Cemetery, Altoona, PA.


"Mrs. Mary J. Sutton, widow of John (sic) Sutton, died at the home of her son, Albert J. Sutton, Eleventh street, at 9:50 o'clock Sunday morning, of paralysis. Deceased was born in Cambria County, January 30, 1845 (sic) and had been a resident of the city for the past thirty-three years. She was a devout Christian woman, was a member of St. John's Catholic church and was esteemed and respected by a wide circle of friends. She is survived by her mother, Mrs. Catherine Wills, and three children - Albert J., Herbert and Mrs. Annie Doule, of this city. She is also survived by these brothers and sisters: James Donoughe, Mrs. Frances Brandt, Mrs. Annie Sprout and Sister M. Callistus, of Scranton. The funeral will take place Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock, services to be conducted in St. John's church. Interment in St. John's cemetery."
