Dennis McKenna, 49, our dear father, grandfather, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and most of all our friend, died on Saturday, October 18, 2008 while doing something he loved, camping.

Dennis was born July 18, 1959 in Salt Lake City to Bill and LaVon McKenna. Dennis was a friend (and mechanic) to everyone he met. Dennis had many loves in his life, if he was not spending time with his daughter or grandchildren he was usually doing something outdoors. Dennis had a passion for living life to the fullest. His favorite pastimes often included rock climbing, mountain and dirt biking, white water rafting, water and jet skiing, snow skiing, and playing hockey. Dennis was employed for 28 years at Tim Dahle Nissan where he was a mechanic and mentor to many people he worked with. Dennis worked many long hours but was always willing to help family and friends on the weekends with their vehicles.

Dennis was survived by Lynn, Sadie his daughter, grandchildren Jayden, Makayla, Chance, Destinee, and Elijah. Sisters, Nancy Borg, Carolyn Lancaster, Jolene (Cal) Sharp, Denice (Bill) DeBirk. Brothers, Bill McKenna (Laurie), Tom (Cindy) McKenna, and Jim (Kim) McKenna. Aunts: Alta Morrow (Aunt Lou) and Bernadette Hayes (Aunt Bernie), and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Bill and LaVon McKenna, brother Bobby Bess, brother-in-law Doug Lancaster, and nephew Timothy William DeBirk.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, October 27, 2008 at 10:30 AM at St. Ambrose Catholic Church located at 1975 South 2300 East in Salt Lake City, Utah. A Vigil Service was held at 7:00 PM on Sunday, October 26, 2008 at Neil 0'Donnell and Sons Mortuary located at 372 East 100 South in Salt Lake City, Utah, where friends attended a viewing from 5:30 until 7:00 PM.
Dennis was laid to rest following the conclusion of the Funeral Services at the Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery in the Avenues neighborhood of Downtown Salt Lake City, Utah.
REST IN PEACE.
