Thorne departed this life on Oct. 14, 2008, at 2:55 p.m. in a Belington, W.Va., care facility. She was born Feb. 16, 1947, in Laurens, S.C., a daughter of the late Clarence Alvin and Marjory Higgins Brown.

On Nov. 11, 1987, she married Thomas L. Thorne, who resides at their home in Belington, W.Va.

Thorne attended school in Augusta, Ga., and attended the Weaver Church of the Nazarene. She was a certified nurse's aide and formerly was employed at Talbott Personal Care Home. Thorne loved cooking for people, making crafts and especially making homemade Christmas ornaments. She will be greatly missed by all.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one grandchild, J.J. Scarborough.

She is survived by one son, Thomas Torres III of Killeen; two daughters, Tina Marie Albino of Austin and Theresa Diane Farmer of Augusta, Ga.; her mother-in-law, Vivian Thorne of Belington, W.Va.; one brother, Clarence Alvin Brown of Augusta, Ga.; and six grandchildren, Christopher Albino, Nicholas Albino, Christee Albino, Michael Werner, Ashley Werner, Silvia Torres and Nina Bero.

Friends will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday and prior to the service at the funeral home, 210 Brandenburg St., Belington, W.Va.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Weaver Church of the Nazarene, Route 3, Box 127, Belington, WV 26250. Condolences can be sent to the family at www.talbottfuneralhome.com.
