Blankenship Services To Be Today
Andrew J. Blankenship, 97, a foreman for the Southern Pacific Railroad here for 46 years, died Friday in a hospital.
He resided in San Diego for 51 years and lived at 7930 North Ave. in Lemon Grove. He was a native of Buckholtz, Texas.
Mr. Blankenship was a member of the Railroad Brotherhood of Trackmen and the Odd Fellows.
He is survived by his wife, Verda, of El Cajon; two daughters, Mrs. Helen Wylie of El Cajon and Mrs. Mildred Johnston of Pacific Beach; eight grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held today at 1:30 p.m. at Alpine Cemetery. El Cajon Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Please note, his headstone and foot stone have conflicting years, but maybe he wasn't sure when he was born. He did work for the railroad for years.
