She was born in Detroit, Michigan, March 23, 1921 but lived most of her life in Johnson City, Tennessee. Mrs. Webb was the youngest daughter of the late Emery G. and Karen M. Stevenson, of Detroit, Michigan.
Her survivors include her husband, Dr. Henry E. Webb; 3 children, Karen and husband, Len Smith, Abingdon, Virginia, Mark and wife, Beth Webb, Bristol, Tennessee, Wendy and husband, R. Mark Webb, of Ft. Myers, Florida; Seven grandchildren, Kirsten Binkley and husband, Stacy, Ryan Koeniger, Brenden Webb and wife, Sarah Beth, Corey Webb and wife, Tisha, Lauren Herring and husband, Josh, Rachel Speas and husband, Todd, and Lara Webb; four great grandchildren, Aria, Ella, Ian and Lillia.
Serving faithfully alongside her husband, Dr. Henry E. Webb for 65 years, she was a true devoted partner in Christian Ministry in the many churches they served. "Em," as she was affectionately called, attended Detroit Business College. She served as President of the Civinette Club of Johnson City, a member of the "Mr. and Mrs. Class" of her church as well as the "Monday Club" of Johnson City.
Mrs. Webb was employed at Milligan College for many years where she befriended and counseled many students. She was a volunteer receptionist at the Johnson City Medical Center.
Music was an inspiration to her and she was always a part of that service in her church. Needlework and sewing for others was her hobby as well as an enjoyed passion.
A memorial celebration of the life of Emerald Mae Webb will begin at Appalachian Funeral Home with visitation on Saturday, October 25, 2008, from 4:00-6:00 PM.
The funeral service will be held at First Christian Church at 2:30 PM Sunday, October 26, 2008. The interment will follow at Monte Vista Cemetery.
Active pallbearers are her grandsons and the spouses of her granddaughters.
Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Mr. and Mrs. Sunday School Class of First Christian Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be sent to the Associated Ladies for Milligan (ALM) Scholarship Fund, PO Box 371, Milligan College, TN 37682.
The family will be grateful and very happy to receive the many friends of Mrs. Webb.
