His actual father may have been W C Burrus, who subsequently married Mary Covert years later and who is buried by Mary Covert Burrus in Pecan Grove Cemetery, Collin County, Texas.

Funeral services were held Monday at 2:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Malakoff for Fred W. Covert, 75, of Malakoff, who passed away at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in McKinney Saturday.
Mr. Covert was born March 12, 1874. He had lived in Malakoff since he came there from Edgewood nine years ago.
Rev. E. Bost of Athens officiated at the funeral services, and interment was in the Malakoff Cemetery.
In 1911 Mr. Covert married Mrs. May Virginia Mills in Canton.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. F.W. Covert of Canton; three sons, F.B. Covert, H.M. Covert and James G. Covert, all of Fort Worth; one daughter, Mrs. W.R. Walsh of Athens; two step-daughters, Mrs. M.B. Darby of Dallas and Mrs. W.H. Hollis of Eldorado, Kansas and five grandchildren.
The Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
