N. B. McClure died at his home, 1109 Constitution Street, at 11 o'clock last night. His death ended a sickness of two years, during which time his strength gradually had failed. The funeral will be held at the home at 3 o'clock tomorrow afternoon. Dr. W. C. Templeton will conduct the service. Interment will be in Maplewood Cemetery.
N. B. McClure was born near Vincennes, Ind., February 12, 1830. He was one of a family of eleven children, and is survived by onen brother. He grew to manhood in Indiana, and engaged in farming. In 1857 he made his first trip to Kansas, and lived for two years at that time in Miami County. He then returned to Vincennes, and married Miss Dorcas McCord. Shortly after their marriage they returned to Kansas and settled on a farm near Perry, where they lived until they came to Emporia in 1890.
Mr. McClure united with the Presbyterian church when a young man, and he had been closely identified with church work all his life. He was a charter member of the church in Perry, and was an elder of the church during his residence there. After coming to Emporia he became a member of the First Presbyterian Church. He was devoted to home and family, and was a good man and a good citizen in every sense of the word.
Mr. McClure is survived by his wife and three children. The children are Mrs. W. H. Cool, of Emporia; John B. McClure, of Fowler, and Mrs. C. W. Lawrence, of Emporia. Three children, Maggie, Pearl and Edward, died in infancy, and another daughter, Mrs. Robert M. Hamer, died in recent years. The only surviving brother, W. P. McClure, lives in San Diego, Calif. There are four grandchidlren, Eugene Cool, of Colorado Springs, and Irene, Dorothy and Helen Hamer, of Emporia. His son, J. B. McClure, of Fowler, will be here for the funeral.
