Dulcena Heckathorn was born on November 01, 1867 in East Liverpool, Columbiana County, Ohio to George Heckathorn and Mary Elizabeth Campbell. At about 18 years old, she married William Henderson, a potter in East Liverpool. They had five children, three of which survived infancy:Twins Emmett George and Emma Rebecca, Mary Elizabeth and two babies that died in infancy, James Harrison and E. Denane. In 1891, William died from Spanish Flu leaving Dulcena alone to care for three children. Shortly thereafter, she married Hiram Lockhart and this marriage produced a son, Robert Earl in 1893. In 1896, she married Civil War veteran Benjamin Heckathorne (no known relation) and this marriage produced two daughters: Anna Dell and Ruby Lucile. Benjamin died in 1900 and Dulcena married for the last time to Spencer Risden. They also had two daughters: Sara Viola and Bertha Margaret. Dulcena and Spencer were married until Dulcena died in 1943. Dulcena outlived four of her children: the two babies that died in infancy, Emma Rebecca who died at the age of 16 and Robert Earl who also died as a teenager.
