On Jan. 25, 1862, he was united in marriage to Susanna Schmidt. To this union two sons were born, one having passed away after a happy but short wedded life of nearly three years. On Feb. 22, 1866, he was united in marriage to Maria Rempel. To this union 11 children were born, of which five have passed away. His wife passed away on August 7, 1917. Ttheir wedded life was of a duration of 51 years, 5 months and 15 days.
He made his home with his children in Beaver County, Okla., for seven years. On July 7, 1925, he was taken to the Bethesda Hospital in Goessel, Kansas, where he passed away on Saturday, Dec. 3, 1927, at the age of 90 years, 7 months and 16 days. He endured a great deal of illness in his life.
He leaves to mourn his departure 4 sons and 3 daughters, 45 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held at the Hoffnungsau Church, Inman, Kansas, last Thursday afternoon. Rev. P. H. Unruh of Goessel officiated and was assisted by Rev. Peter Flaming and Rev. Abr. Ratzlaff. The remains were laid to rest in the Hoffnungsau cemetery.
