Margie Thelma Batley
Cherokee -- Margie Thelma Batley, 79, of Cherokee, died at 1:25 p.m. Sunday, April 21, 1991 at her home in Cherokee. She had been in ill health for one year.
She was born Nov. 24, 1911 in Stilwell, Okla. to Thomas Fulton and Sophie Tiner Mitchell Harrison. She had been a resident of Cherokee since 1940 and an area resident most of her life.
She married Alexander Read Batley July 27, 1940 in Lamar, Mo. He preceded her in death March 13, 1968 in Fayetteville, Ark.
Mrs. Batley had been a clerk for Ascanio's Grocery Store in Cherokee for 15 years retiring in 1970.
Membership was held in the United Methodist Church of Cherokee, the Priestly Ridley American legion Post No. 35 Auxiliary on Cherokee and the Cherokee Senior Citizens.
Survivors include one son, Michael A. Batley of Cherokee; two daughters, Dorothy Ann Batley of Cherokee and Eddie Mae Blum of Independence; one sister, Pearl McDaniels of Bakersfield, Calif.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and six sisters,
Funeral arrangements will be announced by the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home of Weir.

Cherokee -- Margie Thelma Batley, 79, of Cherokee, died Sunday at her home in Cherokee. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in Cherokee with the Rev. Francis Stockton officiating. Burial will be in the Cherokee City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the Bath-Naylor Chapel in Weir.
