Mrs. Samantha Conley Dies In Carey, Ohio
Mrs. Samantha Conley, age 76, a native of Johnson County, died on Tuesday, February 19, at her home in Carey, Ohio, following an illness of two weeks. Born on June 13, 1880, she was the daughter of Thomas B., and Margaret Hall-May.
She moved to Carey from Johnson County twenty years ago.
She was married on July 17, 1896, to Harlan Conley, who preceded her in death on July 08, 1948.
Surviving are ten children, Mrs. James Caudill, of Sycamore, Ohio; Mrs. Clyde May, of Azura, Calif.; Bert Conley, of Vanlue, OH.; Henry Conley, of Pierceton, Ind.; George Conley, of Warsaw, Ind.; Mrs. Ernest Litton, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio; Mrs. Sherman Conley, Mrs. Ben Rice, Mrs. Beulah Salyer, and Gent Conley, of Carey, Ohio; seventy-four grandchildren; and sixty-six great-grandchildren. Four sons, Hubert Marvin, Elbert Kenneth, Dennie and Morton Grant Conley, preceded her in death. Other survivors are one brother, Rubin May, of Insko, Ky.; one half-brother, Henry May, of Morehead, Ky.; and one half-sister, Mrs. Laney Messer, of Morehead, Ky.
Services were conducted at 1 p.m., on Thursday, February 21, from the Pentecostal Church of God with the Rev. Ransom Hackworth officiating. Burial was made in the Spring Grove Cemetery at Carey under the direction of the Bristol Funeral Home. Pallbearers were; Sherman Conley, Ben Rice, James Caudill, Victor Conley, Billy Conley, and Elmer Caudill.
