He was born Nov. 9, 1898, in Adair County, Ky., the son of William W. and Martina Wethington Abell. He married Mary G. Wethington in 1922 in Clementsville, Ky. Preceding him in death were his wife in 1956; a son, William; two brothers; and two sisters.
Mr. Abell had been a lifelong farmer and retired in 1965. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Berlin, K.C. 4372 in New Berlin and Sangamon County Farm Bureau.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Alphonse (Ann Louise) Meirhaeghe of Woodhull and Mrs. Robert (Jeannine) Frank of New Berlin; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Mass: St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Berlin, with the Rev. John Moore officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in New Berlin.
