Mary Frances was born August 23, 1911 to George Buchanan and Elizabeth Jones who lived in the Standing Rock Community. She had nine brothers and sisters by her father's previous marriage. (to Rebecca Ann McGee). They were James Henry, Elbert, twins Mary and Martha, Florence, Sam, Thomas, Charlie and John. There were four children by her mother's two previous marriages. They were Cora, Raymond, Carlos and Edith Berry. John, Mary Frances and Edith are the only survivors.

Mary Frances from early childhood showed an interest in homemaking. She loved the outdoor life also. She received her grammar school education at Mulberry Hill and graduated third in her high school class of 31 at Dover.

Until 1942 she lived in the Standing Rock Community. She cared for her invalid parents until their deaths. Her mother died March 9, 1937. Her father died September 18, 1918. She began to work in Clarksville at B.F. Goodrich Rubber Plant in 1942 and continued working there until March 31, 1948 when she married J. H. Flood from Springfield. They moved to the Hustburg Community in Humphreys County. He died in July 1950. Mary Frances returned to Clarksville. Through the years she was employed by Dickson-Sadler Drug Company, Capitol Theater and Vulcan Rubber Plant, after it took over B.F. Goodrich Plant. She retired June 30, 1979.

She is a member of Madison Street United Methodist Church.

Frances J. Flood, 82, 424 Highland Circle, died Monday February 28, 1994, at Spring Meadows Nursing home after an extended illness.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 1 at Anglin Funeral Home, Dover, with Earl Claud officiating. Burial was in Hillcrest Cemetery, Dover.

She was born August 23, 1911, in Stewart County, a daughter of George B. Jones and Elizabeth Durdin Jones. She was the widow of John H. Flood.

Mrs. Flood was retired from B.F. Goodrich and was a member of Madison Street United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a half-sister Edith Sexton, Dover.

Nephews and friends were pall-bearers.
