Richland, Wash. - Longtime cafe owner Sarah Addie Nugen, 91, died April 24, 2007, at Richland Rehabilitation Center.
Visitation will be held from 1-5 p.m. Friday at Burns Mortuary of Hermiston. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Burns Mortuary Chapel in Hermiston with burial to follow at Hermiston Cemetery.
One of 10 children, Mrs. Nugen was born July 6, 1915, in Gotebo, Okla., to Shannon B. and Ella Belle Taylor Bottom.
She married Delbert Eugene Nugen on Dec. 17, 1933, in Gotebo. They farmed in Oklahoma until 1947, when they moved to Hermiston.
Mrs. Nugen worked as a waitress at various Hermiston restaurants. In 1956, they moved to Echo where they owned and operated Del & Sarah's Cafe for 27 years.
After her husband's death, Mrs. Nugen moved to the Tri-Cities.
She enjoyed making quilts and cooking big family dinners.
She was preceded in death by her husband, five sisters, three brothers and two sons-in-law.
She is survived by daughters Delma Schuller, Shirley George and Carla Wheatley, all of Pasco; brother Ed Bottom of Asher, Okla.; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
