Raymond A. "Butch" Eckroat, age 65, died Sunday, December 8, 2002, at his home south of Victoria, Kansas. He was born October 11, 1937, at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Edward and Kathryn (Zawisza) Eckroat.

He married Joyce Lantz on February 25, 1967, at Piqua, Kansas.

He lived in Piqua, Kansas, and was a 1955 graduate of St. John's Catholic High School in Iola, Kansas. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He worked for Heartland Rural Electric Company in Iola, Kansas for 32 years and retired in 1998. He then worked for the County of Allen for two years and moved to Victoria, Kansas in 2000. He worked for the Central Plains Laboratories in Hays, Kansas, for one and half years. He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and choir, Vincent, Kansas, the American Legion, Iola, Kansas, and the Knights of Columbus, Munjor, Kansas.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Eckroat, of the home; on daughter, Lori Eckroat and friend Mike, Downey, one son, Mike and wife, Stephine Eckroat, and two granddaughters, Mesa and Lakin Eckroat, his parents, Edward and Kathryn Eckroat; one brother, Ed and wife, Jan Eckroat, and one sister, Loretta Andres.
