James J. Chambers, a former resident of Glasford, died at his residence, 1515 N. Jefferson st., Peoria, Tuesday Feb. 11, 1936, at the age of 53 years, 11 months and 3 days.
Funeral services were held Thursday at the Wilson mortuary chapel, in Peoria. Interment was at Maple Ridge Cemetery.
James J. Chambers, the son of Samuel and Martha Jones Chambers, was born March 8, 1882, at Mapleton. Most of his boyhood was spent in Glasford, where he attended the public schools.
After moving to Peoria, he spent 10 years on the police force, being promoted to the rank of Sergeant.
On August 4, 1919, he was married to Mrs. Alza Foster.
Besides his wife, Mr. Chambers is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Florence Richardson and Miss Janelle Jean Chambers, both of Peoria, also one brother Sherman Chambers, Marysville, Washington and four sisters, Mrs. Sidney Moore, Pekin, Mrs. Elizabeth Goodman, Peoria, Mrs. Mary Kennedy, Mason City, Iowa, Mrs. Martha Chuinard, Portland, Oregon.
