MRS. HANNAH C. APPLEGATE, one of Richland county's well-known residents, passed away at her home, three miles east of Lucas, Tuesday morning, October 1, 1907. She had been ill for some time and confined to her bed for the last eight months from that dread disease, cancer. She bore her sufferings through these months with Christian fortitude, which will always be remembered by those who knew and loved her so well.

Mrs. Applegate's maiden name was Winters. She was born near Steubenville, Jefferson County, July 13, 1842. She was married to John Applegate February 11, 1868. Of this union were born three children; George W. of Mifflin, Spiles W., who resides near the home place, and Harriet E., who lives at home.

Funeral - October 3, at 1:30 from the Mt. Zion Church, east of Lucas, the Rev. O.F. Weaver officiating.
