Charlotte Ann was born the daughter of Herman Avery and Mary/Polly VanPelt; her sibling were: Infant Avery, Alexander VanPelt Avery, Daniel Gillett Avery, Daniel Wilson Avery, Mathias VanPelt Avery, Sarah Elizabeth (Avery) Monfort, and Frances E. Avery. Her mother died while she was young, and her father remarried, three more time, producing half siblings of: Frances Ely (Avery) Howard, Jefferson Avery, Infant Avery, and Mahala (Avery) Short.

She was united in marriage to William Mitchell Pearce on August 17, 1848, Shelby County, Indiana.

To this union, five known children were born: Mary Frances (Pearce) Haymond, Sarah Helene (Pearce) Lee, Herman Avery Pearce, Amanda J. (Pearce) Walker, and William Willis Pearce.

Following the death of William, she was united in marriage to James Jones on September 06, 1889.
