Kingsport - Herman J. Peters, 91 of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Friday evening, October 17, 2008, at Bristol Hospice House. Born in Scott County, Virginia Mr. Peters had been a resident of Kingsport for most of his life. He was retired from the Mead Corporation after over 43 years service and a member of Apostolic Lighthouse Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude Williams Peters; parents, James and Hattie Hammonds Peters; sister, Velma Forbes; brothers, Ray Peters, Malcolm Peters, Harold Peters and Bishop Granville D. Peters.

He is survived by his daughters, Inez Herrmann and Sharon Peters both of Kingsport; sons, Elwood Peters and wife Carolyn of Hot Spring Village, Arkansas and Gary R. Peters and wife Kaye of Greensboro, Ga.; grandchildren, Randy Herrmann, Kecia Carroll, Amy Manto, Rob Peters and Shelly Baker; eight great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; brothers, Rayford Peters of Blountville and Virgil Peters of Kingsport; several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be from 4-7 p.m. on Monday, October 20, 2008 at Apostolic Lighthouse Church, 145 Shipp Springs Road, Kingsport, TN.

A funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. at the church with Rev. Mike Vicars, Elder Larry Ragsdale and Pastor David Peters officiating.

Entombment services will be conducted at 9:00 a.m. Tuesday at Oak Hill Mausoleum. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the mausoleum at 8:55 a.m. Pallbearers will be Rob Peters, Randy Herrmann, Travis Baker, Dan Bullion, Joe Brennan and Charles Carroll. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Lawson, Aurelid Manto, Austin Baker, Joe Boggs, Junior Johnson and Quenton Wilson.
