Son of the late James Henry and Inez Edna Shuman Waugh, he graduated from Buffalo High School in 1939. He served with the U.S. Army during WWII in the European Theater. He married Marceline Marie Headlee on August 10, 1947, in Buffalo. She died March 6, 2004. He was a farmer and stockman. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Buffalo, Oklahoma Writers, Inc., and Oklahoma City Writers, Writers of the Purple Sage of Woodward and the American Legion of Buffalo. He was survived by three sons, Dwight Waugh, Gary Waugh and Mark Waugh; one daughter, Linda Sader; two brothers, Wilford Waugh and Eldon Waugh; one sister, Ivalee Brock; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and an extended family of relatives. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by one grandson. His funeral was held October 22, 2008, at the United Methodist Church in Buffalo with The Rev. Woody Hamon officiating.
