BURLINGTON —On Thursday, October 16, 2008, God decided it was time for another of his soldiers to come home, so he sent his angels to the bed of Nancy C. Long Wiley.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Monday, October 20, at Visitors Chapel Christian Church, by Pastor Bernard Coble. Burial will follow at Northlawn Cemetery.

Nancy Wiley was born the last child of the late Edward Long, Sr. and the late Callie Lee Long on March 8, 1932, in Burlington, N.C. "Mrs. Wiley", as she was so affectionately called, was a caring and wonderful mother to her children, her grandchildren, and to all their friends as well. She would always share her good cooking with the community, too. Mrs. Wiley loved her family and friends so much; she helped organize the Pine Top Family and Friends Reunion 28 years ago. She was a faithful member of Christian Tabernacle Church where she was a member of the choir, part of the kitchen staff, and past usher. She was member of Areme Chapter #172 OES for many years.

Mrs. Wiley loved to cook and listen to gospel music and to attend choir anniversaries and gospel concerts. Her hobbies were sewing and collecting African figurines, salt and pepper shakers, bells, and magnets. She also loved watching CSI and Detective Stories.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George C. Wiley; three brothers, Edward Long, Reginald Long and Johnette Long; one daughter, Vermita Long; one great-grandson, Duane Richmond, and a nephew, Maurice Keck.

She leaves to cherish her fond memories four daughters, Rhonda Haith (Bill) of Burlington, Celeste Spinks (Lonnie) of Asheboro, Laverne Long of Burlington and Michelle Long, of the home; three sons, Jack Long of Greensboro and Tony Long and Darrell Long of Burlington; 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; a special friend, William Carmon, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
