He was born May 15, 1925 in Antelope, Idaho to John and Elizabeth Nebel. His early years were spent in Idaho except while serving as an Army rifleman during World War II. He fought valiantly in the famous Battle of the Bulge and received a purple heart. On December 4, 1943, he married Norma Johnson, their marriage later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. They had three children, John Louis, Jesse Lon, and Janelle Kim. Jesse loved horses and the country life. He spent most of his life as a ranch foreman on various ranches in Idaho, Wyoming, and Utah. As he approached retirement age, he operated a backhoe for the Salt Lake County Flood Control. After retirement, Jess and Norma spent several years enjoying trips around the world. Starting at a very young age, Jess faced many extreme hardships, both physical and emotional and always endured them with amazing quiet courage and positive attitude. After Norma's passing in 2001, he married Barbara Posell and then moved to Kaysville, Utah to be near her family who have so tenderly cared for both of them for the last six years.
Jesse is survived by many family members who love him dearly and have been taught much by his great example for good.
