Mrs. Maude Johnson, 82, former county schoolteacher and resident of 1408 Washington St., died Friday at a local hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Daniel’s Funeral Home and burial follows in Summerville cemetery. Born at Island City, Mrs. Johnson had lived in this county all her life. She was a member of the Methodist church and Crystal Rebekah Lodge. Mrs. Johnson was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Parker of Island City and had taught in several county schools when she was a young woman. After her teaching career she resided on a farm at Pleasant Grove. She had lived in La Grande for the past 33 years. Survivors are a son, Frank Johnson, Portland; two daughters, Mrs. Mamie Lake, Boise, Ida., and Mrs. Sylvia Simonsen, Opportunity, Wash.; a brother, Roy Parker, Banning, Calif.; and eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Her husband and three children preceded her in death.
