Newland, N.C. - Brad Jones, 6, of Newland, N.C., went home with the angels after a very courageous battle with Leukemia Friday, October 17, 2008, at his home surrounded by his family.

Brad was the son of David Allen and Melanie Ann McCloud Jones, of Newland.

He attended Ivy Heights Freewill Baptist Church with his family and enjoyed fishing, hunting, shooting BB guns, wrestling and collecting rocks.

Brad was a very loving, giving and compassionate young man.

Along with his parents, he is survived by his sister, Brooke Jones, of the home; maternal grandfather, Eugene McCloud and wife, Sheila, of Heaton; maternal grandmother, Diane Buchanan, of Roan Mountain; paternal grandparents, Waits and Lois Jones, of Morganton; paternal great-grandmother, Melba McCloud, of Cranberry; paternal uncle, Lee Jones, of Linville; paternal aunt, Karen Coffey, of Morganton; maternal uncles, Casey McCloud, of Newland; and Corey McCloud, of Gastonia; maternal aunt, Genia Hudgins, of Burnsville. A host of cousins and friends who loved him very much also survive.

The funeral service for Brad will be held Sunday October 19 at 3 p.m. at Freedom Trail Elementary School in Cranberry. The Revs. Barry Sheppard and Rodney Milsaps will officiate. The family will receive friends from 11 until 3 p.m. prior to the service at the school.

Interment will follow in the Belview Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Casey McCloud, Lee Jones, Anthony Hudgins and John Hicks.

Memorials may be made in Brad's memory to the American Children's Cancer Society at 4-A Oak Branch Dr. Greensboro, NC 27407.
