WILLIAM MILLER CROSSING ROAD TO HIS MAILBOX
William F. Miller of R.R.7, a 79 year old Decatur County farmer, was killed instantly at 11:40 a.m. today in an automobile-pedestrian accident on U.S. 421, three-fourths mile north of Decatur-Ripley county line. The body was taken to the Taylor funeral home in Napoleon. Funeral arrangements will be announced later.

SERVICES WEDNESDAY FOR ACCIDENT VICTIM
Funeral rites for William F. Miller, 79, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Smyrna Lutheran Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The rites at the church will be preceded by a prayer service at 1 p.m. at the George C. Taylor funeral home in Napoleon.

William F. Miller, son of the late Charles H. and Willmenia Koerner Miller, was born on a farm in Saltcreek Twp., Decatur Co., Indiana on June 1, 1875. He was one of a family of eleven children. He was baptized in infancy and later confirmed in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Smyrna, where he continued a faithful member throughout life. On Nov. 25, 1900 he was united in marriage to Paulena Horstman and to this union was born one daughter. This marriage was of short duration for Mrs. Miller passed away on Jan. 26, 1904. On April 5, 1905 he was married to Ethel Lehman and to them were born 4 children, 3 sons and 1 daughter. One of the sons, Floyd L., passed away in 1923 at the age of 4 years.
Mr. Miller spent his entire life as a farmer and was always interested in the things of nature. Most of his married life was spent on a farm 1 mile south of Smyrna. Nine years ago Mr. and Mrs. Miller moved to the present home. On April 3, he and his wife celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary as a happy occasion and were greeted by more than 200 relatives and friends. No one dreamed that tragedy was so near. Mr. Miller's life was snuffed out suddenly in an accident on April 11, 1955. He had attained the age of 79 years, 10 months and 10 days.
Left to mourn his loss are the wife; two sons, Ralph Miller and John Miller of Greensburg R.R. 7; two daughters, Mrs. Fred [Ethel] Meyer, R.R. 7 and Mrs. Walter [Wilma] Jordan of Milan; two daughters-in-law; two sons-in-law; 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; with 2 brothers and 4 sisters also surviving.
