Thomas Hart enlisted in 1776, and served one year in the Revolutionary War. He served at Ft. George, New York and Fort Ticonderoga under Col. Ethan Allen.
Thomas Hart served as a private in the Revolutionary War of 1776 and was stationed at St. George, New York. He met and married Ruth Payne of Hamilton, New York in 1778. They were blessed with about twelve children; Hulda (born 1779), Lucinda (born 1781), John (born 1782), Abraham (born 1784), Pamelia (born 1786), Sorisa (born 1788), Ruth (born 1789), Thomas (born 1791), Silas (born 1793), Seth ( born 1795), and two more but some did not live to adulthood. Thomas the father, later settled in Illinois to be with his son Thomas Jr. and his family and that is where he is buried.
