Marcus Leonard Freeman, of Mart, passed away Thursday, Oct. 16, 2008, at a Temple hospital. Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 19, at Littlepage Funeral Home. Visitation will be 6 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, at the funeral home.
Marcus was born in Mart, Texas, to the late Leonard and Ruby Freeman. From 1954 to 1956, he served with the U.S. Army. On Feb. 8, 1956, he was married to Gertrude Henkelman. Since 1956, he had lived in Mart, where he and his wife reared their family. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife on Nov. 3, 2001.
Survivors include his sons, Gary Freeman and wife, Cynthia, of Hewitt, and Gene Freeman, of Mart; daughters, Judy Bragg and husband, Alan, of Houston, and Jeanie Freeman, of Mart; grandchildren, Trent Freeman, Misty Hildebrandt, Ashley Freeman, Travis Ridenour and Jessica Sams; brothers, C.M. Freeman and wife, Jessie, of Mart, Donald Freeman and wife, Marie, of Hewitt, Gerald Freeman and wife, Betty, of Mart, and Henry Freeman and wife, Sharon, of Littlefield; sisters, Lois Strait and husband, Robert, of Mart, Ruby Brown and husband, Bill, of Robinson, and Helen Cox and husband, Dean, of Waco; sister-in-law, Angie Henkelman, of Waco; and an aunt, Monette Magee, of Mart.
