In 1917, Mr. Barbee went to work for Phillips Petroleum Company as a lease pumper. Phillips, at that time, was know as Lewcinda Oil Company located in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. After a time, he became a water station operator for Phillips working in Shidler, Oklahoma. He also worked for a number of years in 1959 in Kaw City, Oklahoma. Upon retirement in 1959, Mr. & Mrs. Barbee moved to Caney, Montgomery County, Kansas.
Mark was the son of Benjamin Gray and Francis Elonora (Lively) Barbee and was born June 16, 1894, at Irving, Dallas County, Texas (actually called Kit, Texas at the time of his birth).
William Marcus and Conie Inez (Medlen) Barbee were married July 15, 1913, at Bartlesville, Washington County, Oklahoma. They had eleven children.
Mrs. Barbee died April 17, 1993 and is also buried in Sunnyside Cemetery.
