COTTRELL - Lawrence Benjamin Cottrell passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 20, 1970, at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Des Moines. He had been in failing health for the past 2 1/2 years.
Lawrence was born near Lucas, Iowa on Aug. 7, 1909, to Andrew Vinton and Minnie Haines Cottrell, and lived most of his life in this area.
On Oct. 30, 1930, he was united in marriage to Thelma Jones. To this union two daughters were born, Wanda and Evelyn. Lawrence served his country in the United States Army during World War II.
Survivors include his two daughters, Mrs. David (Wanda) Church and Mrs. Chuck (Evelyn) Trenary, both of Mason City, 2 sons-in-law, David Church and Chuck Trenary, four grandchildren, Karla and Steve Church and Jeff and Kim Trenary, all of Mason City, one sister, Dora Hickman of Russell, three brothers, Dewey of Creston, Carl and Herman, both of Chariton; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother; one brother, Clarence, and a granddaughter, Julie Jo Trenary.
Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Everett Hollingshead at 1 p.m., Friday, Oct. 23, 1970, at the Beardsley-Fielding Funeral Home. Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery near Lucas.
