Clyde Oral Johnson, son of Jesse W. and Harriet Jane Elsea Johnson was born near Shibleys Point, Missouri April 15, 1892 and passed away at 12:20 Saturday morning September 13, 1986 in Kirksville Manor Care Center at the age of 94 years.
On March 3, 1915 he was united in marriage to Nola Faye Roseberry and to this union was born three children: Ethel Mildred, now Mrs. Guy Stidmon of Green Castle, Gordon Oral Johnson and whose wife was Ruth Morelock of Kalamazoo, Michigan and Lyal Cleon, now Mrs. Robert Stidmon of Kirksville.
Besides the children who survive are seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; three sisters, Hester Burchett of Green Castle, Esther Klinefelter of Marshalltown, Iowa and Violet Cooper of Quail Valley, California.
He was preceded in death by his wife, three sisters and two brothers.
In August 1931, Mr. Johnson, with his wife, Nola, united with the Hazel Creek Primitive Baptist Church, west of Greentop. Within a year he was enlisted in helping with the church services and the church soon called for his ordination. In 1935 he was ordained to the full work of the ministry. Before his ordination, however, he was called to pastor Mt. Tabor Church near Hurdland in 1934 and has continued as their faithful pastor ever since.
His devotion to his responsibility as pastor of churches during these years had been his first love and never failed if at al possible to attend any service he was asked to perform.
Mr. Johnson was a farmer all his life and for a number of years was a dealer in mine timbers.
Funeral services will be held at two o'clock Tuesday afternoon September 16, 1986 in the chapel of the Fohn Funeral Home. Elder Russell Key of Moberly and Elder Darle Siegle of Excelsior Springs will officiate. Burial will be in the Lone Pine Cemetery at Martinstown.
