James Harris, residing on Rock Creek, was instantly killed during the electrical storm here Sunday afternoon. The victim was standing in the doorway of his home, watching the sweep of the storm, when a bolt of lightning struck a tree nearby, flashed across into the doorway where Mr. Harris was standing, killing him instantly. One of his little daughters, who was near him, screamed for her mother, saying "Someone has shot Daddy." He was dead when members of his family reached his side.
Surviving the deceased are his wife and six children, Dell, Joan, Fred, Warren, Lucille and Mildred. Interment was made in Fisher Church Cemetery. *Source- The Erwin Magnet-Times, Aug. 30, 1927, Page 1
