Mrs. Elisabeth Seybert Jackson passed away in the morning of June 30, 1913. Mrs. Jackson lived for 75 years, 5 months, and 12 days. She was born on Jan. 20, 1838, in Berwick. She was the daughter of Thomas and Deborah Seybert of Berwick.
Mrs. Jackson was a longtime member of, and very active in, the First United Methodist Church of Berwick. In addition to sponsoring the large stained-glass window in the church, she also purchased the first organ for the church. She was very active in her community supporting the library, the YMCA, the Salvation Army and many other charities.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Colonel Clarence Gearhart Jackson, and her parents.
Daughters Henrietta North and Jane Gearhart of New York, and grandsons Dickson Given Watts and Clarence Jackson North survive her, along with one granddaughter, Margery Seagrave North.
A viewing will be held in the Jackson Mansion from 1 until 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 30, 1913, with a church service to follow at the First United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Pine Grove Cemetery on Market Street in Berwick.
