She and Lloyd Samuel Ward were married on Sept. 13, 1936, in Coffeyville. He proceeded his wife in death on Feb. 2, 1984.They had one son, Danny.
Viola was a Coffeyville resident for many years, as were her sisters and brother. She moved to Locust Grove in Sept. of 2005, with her grandaughter as her caregiver.
She was survived by three sisters: Nora Joplin of Wichita, Lucille Keely of Wichita, and Dorothy Ryan of Coffeyville; two grandchildren, Brenda Morris and husband Nick of Locust Grove, John Ward and wife Betty of Salina, Okla., seven great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceeded in death by: her parents, her husband, one son, Danny Lloyd Ward, two brothers, Ernest and Frank, and two sisters who died in infancy, Dollie May and Goldie Maxine.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 pm, Wednesday, Feb. 22 at the Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel at 2405 Woodland Ave., Coffeyville, KS.
