-- Rev. J. C. Bryan, 86, of Lenox, passedaway Aug. 31, 2008, at his residence following a short illness. He was born May 13, 1922 in Berrien County to the late Thomas Baker and Eunie Malissie Forte Bryan. He lived most of his life in Cook County, was a retired farmer and member of Union Grove Church of God. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother. Odis Bryan; three sisters, Maudie Sellars, Mattie Harrell and Nannie Ruth Crum; and a granddaughter, Leigh Roberts.
-- Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Mrs. Lizzie Phillips Bryan of Lenox; two sons and daughters-in-law, Carlton and Donna Bryan of Bainbridge and Bennie and Betty Ann Bryan of Blackshear; four daughters and sons-in-law, Laverne and Ray Gene Sumner of Lenox, Ann and Braxtoin Grantham of Tifton, Donna and Larry Kinchen of McIntyre and Marie and Jim Burroughs of Naylor; three brothers, Grady T. Bryan of Lenox, Earl Bryan of Adel, and Jack Bryan of Sparks; three sisters, Miss Jewel Bryan of Lenox, Mrs. Sarah Nash of Moultrie and Mrs. Mearl Griffin of Lenox; 17 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
-- Funeral services will be held today, Sept. 3, at 3 p.m. at Union Grove Church of God with Rev. Lamar Harris, Rev. Tommy Dorman and Rev. Ray Dawson officiating. Mr. Chad Sumner will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow in Union Grove Church Cemetery, Tift County. Boone-Lipsey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
