George Adam Gardner, 78, of South Rosina Avenue, Somerset, died Jan. 7, 1998, at residence. Born Oct. 28, 1919, in Somerset. Son of Harry Franklin and Gertie (Pletcher) Gardner. Preceded in death by parents, two great-grandsons: Christopher Roye and Bradey Sipe; 4 brothers: Clyde, Glenn, Roy P., Charles W. Gardner. Survived by children: Mrs. Abraham (Deloris) Shumaker, Somerset; Homer E. Gardner, married to the former Shelva Meyers, Somerset; Mrs. Francis R. (Kay) Moravecz, Hollsopple; Mrs. George L. (Georgia) Marple, Somerset; Barry W. Gardner, Severn, Md.; Mrs. Harry B. (Margaret) Mayhugh, Meyersdale; Mrs. Robert E. (Gail) Sipe, Somerset; also 22 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Member of Somerset Church of God; Jenner Rod and Gun Club; Laurel Ridge Sportsman Association. U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Retired in 1978 as a janitor/maintenance man for Somerset Trust Co. Friends received from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and 2 to 4 and 7 to9 p.m. Saturday at Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home. Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Sunday at Somerset Church of God, with the Rev. M.D. Herring officiating. Interment, Somerset County Memorial Park. Contributions may be made to Somerset Church of God, 1020 W. Main St., Somerset, Pa. 15501.
