She had been suffering seizures since she was 5 months old, and had been to the emergency room numerous times. The seizure she suffered Wednesday night was the most severe ever.
Kirstian's mother was home at the time of Wednesday's seizures. Paramedics were called to their Railroad Avenue home at about 8:30 p.m., and Kirstian was rushed to Valley West Hospital before being airlifted
Kirstin Reann Blockinger, 14 months, of Leland, Ill., passed away Thursday, Oct. 16 in Aurora.
Born August 16, 2007, in Winfield, she was the daughter of Robert and Brooke (Ogletree) Blockinger.
Kirstin was a blessing to everyone around her. Her laugh was contagious, and she had a smile that melted your heart and eyes that danced with life. The family thanks everyone involved in her care during these last 10 months.
She is survived by her parents, Robert and Brooke Blockinger along with her 2-year-old brother, Collin of Leland; her paternal grandparents, Glenn and Pat Blockinger of Leland; her maternal grandfather, Stephen Ogletree of Detroit, Mich.; her maternal grandmother, Rebecca Ogletree of Hurst, Texas; her aunt, Sarah Blockinger of Leland; her uncle, Chris Ogletree of Deming, N.M.; and Kirstin's extended family.
Funeral Services will be at noon on Monday, Oct. 20, 2008, at First United Methodist Church, 321 Oak St. in DeKalb with Pastor Wendy Witt officiating. Burial will follow services at Leland Cemetery in Leland. Visitation will be held from 1-9 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 19 at the Anderson Funeral Home, 2011 South Fourth St. in DeKalb.
In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established for Kirstin in care of the Anderson Funeral Home, Ltd., P.O. Box 605, DeKalb, IL 60115.
