Major League Baseball Player. In 1962, he started at shortstop for the New York Yankees winning Rookie of the Year honors with a .286 batting average, 20 homers, 93 RBIs and 94 runs scored. With the Yankees, he played in three World Series 1962 to 1963, was an All-Star in 1962, 1963 and won a Gold Glove in 1965. In a nine season career ending with the Detroit Tigers, he was a life time .245 hitter with 153 home runs and 530 RBIs in 1192 games. He died of a heart attack.
