FdMachen B. Abernathy, 82, passed away Sunday, Nov. 11, 2007, at a Dallas hospital.
Funeral: 10 a.m. Thursday at First Presbyterian Church, 1002 Park Blvd., Grapevine. Interment: Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park. Visitation: The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home, 5725 Colleyville Blvd.
He was born in South Carolina to parents Ellen & Gideon Franklin Abernathy.
Machen had been a resident of Grapevine for 28 years and was the owner of Five Star Marketing Inc. He was an active member of First Presbyterian Church of Grapevine, where he was privileged to serve as a deacon. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served on the aircraft carrier USS Shangri-La. His hobbies included golf and traveling, but his greatest pleasure was time spent with his family and friends.
Survivors: Sons, Brock Abernathy and his wife Sharon, of Baltimore, Md., and Steve Pierce and his wife wife, Rhonda, of Severance, Colo.; and grandchildren, Lindsay and Tiffany Pierce, both of Fort Collins, Colo., and Stacy Wentland and Darren Hess, both of Baltimore, Md.
