John Stewart Pennington settled on the northwest quarter of Section 30 in McConough County in 1830. He was born in North Carolina, and was a son of Richard and Hannah Boone Pennington. His mother was a sister of the celebrated Daniel Boone. Mr Pennington died at the residence of his son-in-law, W. B. Pile in Industry township, Illinois
