William W. Dyess

William W. Dyess, 87, died Monday, Oct. 13, 2008. He was a native of Rosinton and a resident of Elsanor.

Dyess was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, where he served mostly during the Pacific Theatre on the USS Mississippi. He was the owner and operator for many years of Dyess Timber Inc.

Survivors include a daughter, Clela Reed of Athens, Ga.; a son, William W. Dyess Jr. of Crestview, Fla.; a sister, Esther Riendeau of Robertsdale; two half-sisters, Alma Cloud of Pensacola and Irma Cox of Portland, Ore.; and five grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Bethel Baptist Cemetery in Elsanor.

A visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at Mack Funeral Home in Robertsdale.

The family suggests that memorial donations be made to the American Red Cross, 853 Dauphin St., Mobile, AL 36602.
