Charles Homer Tankersley Jr., 72, of Floyd, Va., passed away Wednesday, October 8, 2008. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Homer Tankersley Sr.; mother, Mary Alice Morrison; two brothers, William Tankersley and Buford Tankersley; and a sister, Virginia Burton. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Shirley Ann Tankersley; four children and spouses, Charlie and Katie Tankersley, Roger and Gail Tankersley, Lisa Tankersley, and Timmy and Julie Shearing; six grandchildren, Stormy Tankersley, Chad Tankersley, Zachary Tankersley, Chris Kelley, Timothy Kelley, and Jenna Shearing; brothersin-law, Donald Meadows and Donald Parcell; sisters-in-law, Delphia Izso, Norma Parcell, Marie Meadows, and Evangeline Tankersley; and many nieces, nephews and special friends. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 12, 2008, at Gardner Funeral Home with the Rev. Junior Bentley officiating. Interment will follow at Jacksonville Cemetery.
