Donnie died at his home in Manhattan of congestive heart failure. He was the son of Bernard L. and F. Lorean Piper. He graduated from Manhattan High School in 1965 and joined the Kansas National Guard. He married LaDonna Jean Skidmore on January 9, 1971. Survivors include his wife, his daughters, Billie Jo Piper, Bobbie Jo Schoska, and Brandi Lee Piper, and one grandson. Cremation has taken place.
