Mrs. Josephine Veit Broke Hip in Fall at Osage Bend Home Months Ago

Was Born in taos 76 Years Ago and Was Resident of Bend 33 Years.
Mrs. Josephine Veit, prominent resident of the Osage Bend neighborhood for many years died at the homeof her son on West Highway 50 this morning after a long illness. She was 76 years old.
Mrs Veit fell at her home near Osage Bend about three months ago and sustained a broken hip. She was brought to the hospital here where she remained for three months and was then taken to the home of her son, Isador Veit, who operates Veit's Diamond on West Highway 50.
She suffered a stroke of paralysis seveal days ago and her death was not unexpected.
Mrs. Veit who before her marriage was Miss Jospehine Rothove was born in the Taos neighborhood March 26, 1865 and resided in Cole county all her life.
She and her husband acquired the Osage river bottom farm near Osage Bend and she lived there for thirty-three years. Her husband, the late Alois Veit preceded her in death seventeen years ago.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Mary Harrison, three sons, Joseph, on the home place, Clemence who operates Veit's Ferry and Isidor.
The body was taken to the family home and will remain there until the funeral which will take place from St. Margaret's Place probably Monday.
