Everette P. Noland, 71, a well-known resident and orchardist of Peshastin, died suddenly Thursday afternoon, Nov. 13, 1997, at Limon, Colo., while en route to eastern Tennessee to visit family.

He was born on Dec. 12, 1925, to Wiley and Edith (Myers) Noland at Sevierville, Sevier County, Tenn., where he grew up and received his early education.

In 1942 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and received his basic training in San Diego. He was stationed aboard the USS Lexington and served in the Pacific Theater. Following his honorable discharge on Dec. 31, 1945, he returned to Sevierville.

In the spring of 1946 he moved to Leavenworth, where he was employed by Peshastin Lumber and Box as a timber faller.

On Dec. 16, 1946, he married Lillard Rayfield at Peshastin and they returned to Sevierville in 1948, where he farmed, returning to Leavenworth in 1951. Everette worked for Christopherson and Stackland installing power lines. In 1955 he again was employed by the Peshastin Lumber and Box until 1967. In 1958 he purchased a fruit orchard in Peshastin, which he operated together with his sons, Steve and Edward, until his death.

Everette was a member of Peshastin Hi-Up Growers, Washington Growers Clearing House, Tree Top Processors, Lumber and Sawmill Workers, VFW Norman Douglas Post in Leavenworth, and he was instrumental in the construction of and attended Mount Calvary Primitive Baptist Church in Dryden.

He is survived by his wife, Lillard of the family home; daughter, Kathy Noland of Peshastin; three sons, Steve Noland and Edward and wife, Monica Noland, all of Peshastin, and George Noland of San Francisco, Calif.; granddaughter, Fern Noland of Peshastin; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruby and Jack Howard, Nina and Lawrence Manning, all of Sevierville, and Betty Lou and Ken Tiler of Hopewell, Va.; one brother, Carl Noland of Sevierville, Tenn.; also several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Virgil and J.R. Noland, and an infant sister.

Ward's Funeral Chapel, Leavenworth, is in charge of arrangements.
