Konrad Johann "John" Albrecht was the son of Johann Friedrich Albrecht and Anna Barbara Schmidt Albrecht. He was born on 3 December 1845 in Alexandersreut, a tiny village in the state of Baden-Wurttemburg, near Crailsheim in Germany. Around June 1886, he emigrated to the United States and settled on a farm 9 miles south and 2 miles west of Doland, South Dakota. John was a shoemaker by trade, but farmed all of his life. He married Eva Katharina Hoffman on 7 Nov 1871 in Germany (b.30 Mar 1851-d.22 Sept 1893). Children of this marriage were:

After the death of his wife, Eva Katharina (Hoffman) Albrecht on 23 Sept 1893, John later married his bother Henry's widow, Rosina (b.1859, d.1939) on 3 June 1908. The family moved to a farm near Stetsonville, Wisconsin. Rosina had two sons by her first husband: Carl and Fritz.

John had 3 brothers [Andrew, Conrad & Henry] and 3 sisters [Barbara (Meyers), Cathrine and Rosena]. John passed away in Wisconsin on 1 April 1917 and was buried in the Rose Hill Cemetery near Doland, Spink County, South Dakota.
